What do we do here?

Gookookoo is an online media platform where you can contribute as an author by sharing your original content in the fields of art, science, design, and technology.

The idea of founding Gookookoo was shaped during the consecutive lockdowns of 2020 and 2021 when we were hopeless to find some pastime activities that would create some value instead of laying down and keep consuming.

Being independent professionals with an expertise in digital stuff, we aimed to create an online initiative where we can be productive while providing like-minded people a platform to help them be productive as well. After sharing our idea on social media, we formed our core team with some amazing people who are genuinely interested in being a part of this project. After hours of technical work, a crazy email traffic, and a lot of brainstorming, we are proud to introduce you to Gookookoo!

Ok, but what does Gookookoo mean?

During our brainstorms as the core team, we discussed many name options and agreed on choosing a name that will be related to the concept of wisdom. This path brought us to “owl”, an animal that is widely recognized as the symbol of wisdom. However, instead of simply using the English name, we wanted to add a deeper meaning to it. Hence, we opted for the name “Gookookoo” that means “owl” in Ojibwe language in an attempt to emphasize the ancient wisdom of Indigenous Peoples.

Ojibwe is the heritage language of over 200,000 Ojibwe people who live in Canada and the U.S. across a large area including Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North Dakota. Speakers of the endangered Ojibwe language consider their language to be precise, descriptive, and visual, and feel that it is among the greatest treasures of their cultural heritage. Once you become a Gookookoo author, we provide you with some general guidelines for formatting your content, and you just sent them via email in simple formats (like word documents and image files). Then, let us do our magic to optimize your content for search engines and add it on Gookookoo. All Gookookoo Authors will also have their own author profiles (with their name or alias) that display all their content.
